Rounded Rectangle: Step by Step

Step By step process for Using BoardworX with an SOIC device (Creating an adaptor board)

4.  Wire up desired pin and part connections, in this case,  wires from pins to a header to form an adaptor board.

3.  Solder down all pins

2. Tack down Two pin to fix position

1. place device on pads such that best alignment is achieved with pins and pads.

5.  Finished board (penny for  scale).

4.  Wire up desired pins and part connections,.

3.  Solder down SOT-3 device in convenient orientation.

2. Tack down pin to fix position

1. place the SOT-6 device on pads such that best alignment is achieved with pins and pads.

6.  Finished board showing scale.

5.  Add discrete parts and connection wires

Examples

Basic part wiring with Various discrete parts.  Note that the larger the part the easier it is to mount (Diode).

SOIC with Wheatstone bridge.  Note pull up resistors connected directly to pins and dense simplified  wiring due to part orientation made possible by “Sea of Pads “ approach.

Back of plane board with Power component using pads as heat sink.  Areas can be bridged with solder as shown to provide electrical and thermal conduction between areas.

Example of fine pitch QFP mounting on pads.

Adaptor made with Combo board to convert the through hole prototype area of a microcontroller dev board to Surface mount, ready for development.
